Almost 5 miles in the bag.

Today I did my furthest and most comfortable run yet and I’m very pleased with myself, brag brag blah blah!

I set out feeling good, and actually due to husband having a lie in (!?) I had to delay my run until early afternoon, seems to have done me well! *Note to self- play around with times to maximise progress in distances*

I decided to plod my way around the local lanes and when I got to the usual turning points, I went a little further. In all, I totally 4.8 miles which, previously would have annoyed me that I was so close to 5, but it didn’t! Because who really cares if I did squeeze those extra 0.2 miles out of my legs today? No one! That’s who!

While I ran today, I really thought about what is keeping me going in this intuitive manner, because it has crossed my mind to get a coach or a plan. But no, this is working for me. For the first time EVER, I’m running further and further and feeling no pressure to do so! I’ve learned that pushing myself doesn’t have to hurt, but also that the entire run won’t always feel comfortable, and that’s OK too. If I know my body, better than anyone else, I know when it’s right to push on, and when it’s right to stop.

I also have noticed how I’m enjoying =running outside. I’m extremely lucky to be able to get out in the sunshine in the countryside and explore as part of the distraction from running! But also, this was one of our goals a few years back, and now we’re here, I’m grateful for it every day.

Every run is progress, because every step forward is progress. In other progress news, I’ve even started letting my strava runs be visible because I don’t care who sees them. But also, sometimes I don’t post them too and I don’t care who thinks I have missed a week! It’s no one else’s business but mine, and I’m loving it so far!
